COUNCILMAN HOLDEN AND CITY HALL WELCOMES THE SOUTHLAND'S
KING OF SALSA ALBERT TORRES
Los Angeles - "Albert Torres is a rare breed because he not only
likes what he does as a dancer, teacher and promoter of Salsa music,
but he is passionate about all aspects of this art and he is helping
as many people as possible to enjoy Salsa around the world," said
Councilman Nate Holden.
Known world wide as the premier promoter of Salsa music, Albert
Torres has an unparalleled knowledge of the history and heritage of
Salsa and is an expert in the performance of Latin and
Afro-Caribbean music and dance. Along with teaching and promoting
Salsa, Torres devotes his time and efforts to arts education
programs for children. "It is an honor to be recognized by
Councilman Holden's office and the City of Los Angeles, it has been
my privilege to produce and share some of the finest artists in
Latin entertainment and present them to the Salsa lover's of Los
Angeles," said Albert Torres.
Mr. Torres and his company Albert Torres Productions, Inc produces the
annual three (3) day Salsa Congress in Los Angeles, attracting over
3000 Salsa lover's from around the world. The last one was
titled,"Creating Unity Through Salsa." It was at that event that
Councilman Holden became familar with the work of Albert Torres. "He
gives up his time and money to support those who wish to learn,
dance and enjoy Salsa. From seniors to youngsters everyone who meets
Albert Torres can appreciate what he does."
Salsa dancers will perform and Mr. Holden will present Albert Torres
with a Council resolution on Friday, November 2, 2001 at 10A.M.
Presentation will be at the City Hall Chambers, 200 N. Spring
Street, Los Angeles.
